Calprotectin - is a Cal cium binding prot ein, makes up 60% of cytosolic contents of neutrophil - Robust protein, doesnt undergo proteolytic degradation in faeces - remains stable at room temperature for 3-7 days Meta-analysis of 7 studies, using F-Calpro to differentiate IBS from IBD showed, at levels of 50ug/g, 93-94% sensitivity and specificity of excluding IBD As a screening test - higher values of Calpro increases likelihood of IBD FC 100 - 250 = Risk of IBD 12% FC >250 = Risk of IBD 46% For surveillance purposes, Consider checking FC every 3-6 months in patients on immunomodulators.
